by Nathalie Azoulai

One of the most important of 20th American photographers, Walker Evans (1903-1975) reported the Depression years of the 1930s through a “documentary style” that influenced generations of photographers and artists. His attention to everyday details and the commonplace urban scene did much to define the visual image of American vernicular culture. From April 26 to August 14, Paris Centre Pompidou showcases 300 vintages prints of the iconic photographer.
