Nobody knows Ruth Harriet Louise was the first woman photographer active in Hollywood, let alone that, at only 22, she ran MGM's portrait studio from 1925 to 1930. She photographed all the stars, contract players, and many of the hopefuls, including Greta Garbo, John Gilbert, Joan Crawford, Marion Davies, and Norma Shearer. Even though she took more than 100,000 photos during her tenure, ask for a Hollywood star photographer and you will not get her name but Hurrell’s, again and again. Unfair. Watch our profile and this gentle portrait touch of hers. BTW, Happy New Year 2017 !
