Furniture Design

Rams, Dieter (1932)

The German designer was one of the first to reflect on sustainability and how to fight obsolescence. Fuelled by his motto, “Less, but better”, he created minimalist and functional objects, working from 1955 to 1997 for the brand Braun. To him, design served function and not aesthetics nor art. His subtle touch has since influenced 1980s Japanese design and today's Apple products that follow his belief that 'good design is as little design as possible.'
