The daughter of iconic couple, French singer, Serge Gainsbourg and his British muse, Jane Birkin, Charlotte Gainsbourg managed to make a name for herself in music and cinema. Beginning her career at a very young age, she epitomized rebellious teenage-hood in her first films including L'Effrontée for which she received a César, at only fifteen, and made her musical débuts with her father on the controversial song, 'Lemon Incest', in 1984. Married to French actor Yvan Attal, she's the mother of three children. A shy personality, Charlotte Gainsbourg enjoys taking risks when choosing her roles and confronting herself to nonconformist directors such as Lars Von Trier or to bridge new musical collaborations with radical artists such as Radiohead. She therefore perfectly applies Eleanor Roosevelt's advice who urged to 'do one thing every day that scares you.'
