n°203/ All About New Year's Eve

December 2015

You might know her directly or through the unforgettable performance Bette Davis in amazing All About Eve. Tallulah Bankhead was one of an actress, let alone her exotic name. Born in 1902, she was renowned for her outspoken manners, her husky voice, her drug and alcohol habits, and would often be her best caricature. Once, she told a friend that her doctor had advised her to eat an apple every time she felt the urge to drink.  Arching an eyebrow, she added, 'But really, dahling, sixty apples a day!' And to celebrate New Year' Eve, let's just remember what Margo Channing said while welcoming her guests: "Fasten your seat belts! It's gonna be a bumpy night!" So like Tallulah.
