n°205/ Total Tribute

January 2016

Bowie was everything to "us" especially when those who were born in the late 60s and 70s, growing up along his songs, his amazing personas and crazy shows. To many young boys, Bowie gave the possibility to land on new planets and find it much better there. Life on Mars showed them new ways to be boys, to love boys and to put bright sequins on their male eyelids. To many girls, Bowie was some kind of sweet and sensuous masculinity, that would not hurt, that would go their way while being from another. But still, even though I was one of them, even though I have been a huge fan, I have a confession to make: the real nature of Bowie was revealed to me by Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons whose creative universe is just fully haunted by Bowie who was much more to him than a singer or a musician. So that the first thing that came to my mind this morning was Raf's sorrow, his pain, his nostalgia, the way he would feel now that Bowie is away. Or maybe this is just a trick to forget about mine...
