n°214/ Wolfgang Tillmans

April 2017

by Nathalie Azoulai

The first non-British artist to receive the Turner Prize, Wolfgang Tillmans is a German fine-art photographer born in 1968 and based between London and Berlin. Mainly influenced by Richter and Polke, Tillmans explored the fashion and musical British scenes, shooting at ravers for years and peering destruction, and moved to more political and social issues along with abstract groundbreaking still lifes. Exquisite food for thought at the Tate Britain until June 11.
