Born in 1972 in Johannesbourg, video artist and photographer Candice Breitz lives and works in Berlin. From there, she observes entertainment and pop culture. Through Madonna, Bob Marley, Abba or Britney Spears, she showcases the ambiguous relationship between fans and icons, icons and fans, and, with a post-Warholian vision, brings up the right statement about contemporary idolatry. Her work tours around the world, from Castello di Rivoli in Turino, Paris Palais de Tokyo, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Kunsthaus of Bregenz. And many more places to come.
