Eames, Charles & Ray

Ray (1912 -1988) & Charles Eames (1907 -1978)

The American married duo worked hand in hand for design, architectural as well as photography and short-film projects. The Eameses had a social conception of creation: their Case Study Houses responding to the American housing crisis while their furniture mingled beauty and affordable mass-production. They innovated in the use of moulded plywood, fibreglass and plastic resin which enabled their pieces to fit the body's forms for an optimal comfort. 'Who ever said that pleasure wasn't functional?'
