Max Mara (1927 - 2005)

The designer was the mentor of postwar Italian ready-to-wear that he took over with two designs: a red suit and a camel coat. His dedication to fashion was influenced by his great-grand-mother Marina Rinaldi who had launched a luxury couture house. An innovator, he applied mass-production techniques to his brand, quite a revolution in Italy where fashion was mostly hand-crafted.
