Barbara Hutton (1912 - 1979)

The American socialite became the wealthiest women in the world at only 21 at the death of her father and became the 'Million Dollar Baby' to the media. However leading a luxurious and extravagant life did not seem to fulfil the Woolworth chain heiress who remained deeply insecure, not managing to make any of her seven marriages last, including the one to Cary Grant: a union promptly nicknamed 'Cash n' Cary'. A great figure of high society, she had a legendary passion for jewels and she gathered an incredible Van Cleef & Arpels collection. But wealth and beauty did not please Barbara Hutton whose nickname she had earned as a young girl when she was given a lavish debutante ball during the Great Depression, finally perfectly suited her entire womanhood: 'Poor Little Rich Girl.'
